Research Assistant Professor
The HKUST-Nan Fung Life Sciences Joint Laboratory at the Division of Life Science, HKUST would like to invite outstanding young researchers to apply for the Research Assistant Professor position.
The Joint Laboratory aims to harness advanced technologies to catalyze the development of next generation diagnostics and therapeutics. Our primary focus is to discover molecular biomarkers and drug targets to develop novel diagnostics and therapeutics for aging and diseases, with the application of state-of-the-art technologies such as high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics platforms.
The appointee is expected to 1) devise research proposals to seek funding support from government funded schemes; 2) produce quality research outputs in the area of stem cell and aging studies; 3) supervise junior research staff and students; 4) produce scientific publications, and write grant proposals and reports; 5) help to manage the laboratory; and 6) perform other duties as assigned.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in biology, biochemistry or a related discipline with solid research experience and a strong track record of research publications in reputable scientific journals. An excellent command of written and spoken English is required. He/She should be organized; responsible; detail-minded; self-motivated; and able to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave and medical benefits (where applicable) will be provided.
